ASTI, Italy – A thorough representation of 20th century design will again be presented by Nova Ars in an online-only auction Thursday, April 27. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Lighting is always a favorite attraction, and this month’s auction features many Italian hanging lamps and chandeliers. Featured is a hanging lamp designed by Mario Marenco and produced by Artemide in 1968. The aluminum fixture (above) is 38 inches in diameter and about 25 inches high.
The unmistakable touch of Piero Fornasetti is felt in a circa 1960 table lamp (below) that has its original shade. It stands 17 1/4 inches high and is expected to bring €2,500-€3,000.
Leading the furniture category is a pair of upholstered beechwood stools attributed Geo Ponti.
One of the older objects in the 122-lot auction is a beautiful silver pitcher by Eros Genazi from Calderoni, Milan. The elegant 1930s pitcher stands 10 1/2 inches tall.
Also in the 122-lot catalog are ceramic and glass items, many of which were designed and manufactured in Italy.
