Miami Beach style packaged in online auction Nov. 19
NEW YORK – Two hundred lots of “Jewelry and Decorative Arts Inspired by Miami Beach” are available in a Jasper52 online auction to be held Tuesday, Nov. 19. Victorian-era estate jewelry, sterling silver serving pieces and flatware sets, and rare wristwatches are featured. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.
Approximately 50 diamond and gemstone rings are offered in the auction. One of the many spectacular examples is an estate platinum and GIA-certified Ceylon Gia sapphire and diamond ring (above) that is expected to sell for $4,500-$5,500. The natural oval-cut sapphire weighs 2.27 carats. The Art Deco-style ring has old mine-cut diamonds of H-VS2/SI1 quality that weigh 1.40 ctw.
Outstanding decorative arts offered in the auction include an antique French silver-gilt mounted inkstand that mirrors a baroque or French formal garden with a gilt and enamel clock in place of water a fountain. The clock has a mirror below it and is embellished with medieval-style dolphins to further this illusion. The inkstand is surrounded by a border with classical figures mirroring marble garden sculptures and the glass base is partly frosted to imitate flower beds. The inkstand is stepped and the inkwells stand as potted plants with birds on the hinged lids. The clock has its original key. The inkstand measures 15¼ inches wide. This magnificent antique carries a $11,000-$13,000 estimate.
Dozens of lots of sterling silver are presented in the sale. An important lot in this category is a pair of large George III covered entrée dishes made by renowned London silversmith Paul Storr in 1805. The handles of the domed lids are acanthus leaves ending in a pair of lion heads. Each lid has a beautifully engraved crest of substantial size (est. $19,000-$23,000).
More than 20 luxury watches are offer offered in the auction. Women’s watches are highlighted by an Audemars Piguet Promesse diamond and 18K white gold bracelet-type watch having factory-placed diamonds (est. $12,000-$14,000).
Men’s watches include an Omega Speedmaster chronograph in a 39mm stainless steel case with a steel tachymeter bezel. The watch has black dial with steel luminous hands and indexes and date display (est. $2,500-$3,000).
The Jasper52 Jewelry and Decorative Arts Inspired by Miami Beach auction will take place Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. Eastern time.
