NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – Mid-Hudson Auction Galleries will sell the Joseph Cerniglia Collection of John J. Audubon aquatints and lithographs on Jan. 21 and 22 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time each day. The collection includes Audubon birds and quadrupeds in the Octavo and Imperial folio size. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
John Gould and Alexander Wilson lithographs as well as a comprehensive group of McKenney and Hall Indian portraits complete the collection. The auction is being conducted without reserves and will provide an excellent opportunity for collectors and dealers alike.
The sale on the 21st includes 650 lots of Audubons as well as the McKenney and Hall Indians. Sunday’s session on the 22nd is composed of 400 lots of John Gould and Alexander Wilson lithographs.
Joseph Cerniglia was the founder of Woodchuck Hard Cider Co. and was inspired, in part, by the company’s logo to begin the Audubon collection, which was removed from Atlanta, Georgia, to New York for the sale.
The auction will be held at 179 Temple Hill Road, New Windsor, NY 12553.
