Saturday’s sale includes works from a prominent Grosse Pointe, Mich., family composed of exquisite paintings by Eugene Meeks and Alex de Andreis, a massive hand-painted and embroidered silk World War I regimental flag, and an unusual mixed media astronaut doll, purportedly a prop from an Elton John “Rocket Man” performance.
Also for sale are various gold and silver pocket watches including an early Hirschauer Dresden fusee with a rare enameled case. A 19th century German cuckoo clock, finely carved of black forest wood to depict pheasants, deer and pine trees. These are just few of the antiques available in Saturday’s auction.
Sunday’s sale will cover a vast selection of Asian antiques including a large collection of Chinese Archaic bronze from an American collector. Part of this man’s collection sold recently at Christie’s New York for a large but undisclosed sum. Also included are a fine ivory inlaid zitan wood snuff box, porcelains and jades.
