ASTI, Italy – An Ercole Barovier hanging lamp fixture adorned with three blown Murano glass shades heads a list of modern Italian design in Nova Ars’ online-only auction Thursday, July 23. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide absentee and Internet live-bidding services.

The auction of more than 230 lots represents an interesting design collection of 20th-century Italian art. Included are ceramics, glassware, furniture, lamps and chandeliers. Many of the objects were designed and made in Italy by the likes of Paolo Buffa, Angelo Mangiarotti, Gio Ponti and Enzo Mari.

Important lighting characterizes the auction, from the Ercole Barovier hanging lamp (above) to the Lino Tagliapietra table lamp (below left).

The Lino Tagliapietra table lamp features a blown glass shade and retains its original label (est. €3,000-€3,500). The rare round-shape glass vase (right) was designed by Flavio Poli and executed by Seguso Vetri D'Arte glassworks in Murano, Italy, circa 1935 (€2,000-€2,500). Nova Ars images
