Moran’s is proud to feature works from the Cooprider family collection, featuring important pieces from modern and contemporary artists. Gonzalo Cienfuegos’ Uncle Albert’s Studio is a triumph from the artist and a centerpiece of the Cooprider collection and should easily bring $30,000-$50,000. A stellar Maurice De Vlaminck painting, Paysage a la Route, completed during his late career is a vibrant work from the artist and comes to the block with a $40,000-$60,000 estimate (below).
Cuban artist José Bedia’s signature style is on full display with Lampiao e seus Cabras, O Rei do Cangaco, Governador do Sertao and is expected to bring $40,000-$60,000.
Sculptural works from clay to bronze are sure to impress collectors. An eerie sculpture by Christopher Lee is sure to appeal to collectors at $5,000-$7,000 and also comes from the famed Cooprider Family collection.
Pablo Picasso’s work for Madoura is always a hit with the auction audience. A bull profile wall plaque is sure to capture attention with its $4,000-$6,000 estimate. Agustín Cárdenas’ work, La Torre, is an outstanding contribution to the sale and heads to the block with a $20,000-$30,000 estimate (below).
KAWS’ Warm Regards Bar (Chocolate) with its characteristic design executed in painted cast vinyl is estimated at $1,000-$2,000.
Fantastic Modernist designs can be found throughout the sale. A luscious rocking chair from master woodworker Sam Maloof is one of the finest examples Moran’s has handled and is estimated at $25,000-35,000.
A beautiful tall vase from ceramicist Harrison McIntosh is estimated at $1,000-$1,500. Coveted Danish designer Poul Kjaerholm features in the auction with two PK20 lounge chairs sure to appeal to collectors at $3,000-$5,000.
An abstract brooch from leading Modernist jewelry designer Margaret de Patta is a glorious example from the artist and is estimated to bring $1,200-$1,800. Four bronze chairs from Robert Lewis are the epitome of mid-century chic and should easily bring $1,000-$2,000.
