MONROVIA, Calif. – Moran’s Dec. 10 Luxury, Couture & Accessories Auction is filled to the brim with stunning fashion and designs from the 20th century’s most notable designers. Many pieces are consigned from the collection of an important sophisticate who sought out quality staples and statement-making ensembles to populate her wardrobe. A fine selection of evening gowns arrives just in time for holiday soirees and Oscar parties. A fuschia Christian Dior New York evening gown from the 1950s is a stunning example from the house. Based on the Soirée d’Asie dress designed for the Autumn/Winter 1955 collection, the gown is expected to bring between $1,000-$2,000.

For those looking ahead to wedding season, or award season, a stunning white satin evening gown from Hubert de Givenchy for Bullock’s Wilshire will make any woman feel like Audrey Hepburn and is estimated to bring $500-$700. A sophisticated beaded evening dress from Geoffrey Beene with a chic white satin skirt would make a gorgeous addition to any wardrobe and is expected to bring $400-$600.

Classic suits from the mid-20th century abound at the auction. A chic beige wool skirt suit from Hermès would make a timeless addition to any wardrobe and is expected to sell within its $300-$500 estimate. A vibrant Givenchy skirt suit (below) with colorful polka dots would make a statement at the office and should bring $300-500 at the block.

A skirt suit by famed designer Norman Norell in red and navy check is an imaginative take on the classic silhouette and heads to the block with a $300-$500 estimate.

For those that would prefer channeling Jacqueline Kennedy’s white house portrait, a coral pink ruched Irish linen evening gown from Sybil Connolly, who designed the dress Mrs. Kennedy wears in the iconic painting, would certainly fit the bill and is estimated to bring $400-$600.
