More than 100 clocks set to chime at Alderfer’s Sept. 10-12 auction

HATFIELD, Pa. – Alderfer Auction Center of the Sanford Alderfer Companies will present its Fall Fine and Decorative Arts Auction Sept. 10, 11 and 12.  The cataloged event will feature fine jewelry and more than 100 clocks in addition to the main categories of fine and decorative art.

Alderfers’ national reputation for selling some of the finest works by the Pennsylvania Impressionists is validated by the many pictures of this desirable genre that are entered in the September auction. Among the important paintings to be sold are R.A.D. Miller’s Aqueduct, New Hope, Fern I. Coppedge’s view of the Thompson Neely Mill, and John Folinsbee’s depiction of shad fisherman.

History repeats itself as Alderfer’s presents historical ephemera, including documents signed by Holy Roman Emperor Francis I (signed 1756), and Gen. George Washington, addressed to the Society of Cincinnati in 1785; as well as material from the Archive of George Helms, survivor of the sinking of the USS Maine in 1898; and a 1936 autograph from legendary New York Yankees slugger Babe Ruth.

Alderfer’s is accepting consignments through Friday, Sept. 26 for its Dec. 10, 11 and 12 Fine & Decorative Arts Auction. Visit their Web site at www.alderferauction.com.
