NEW YORK – Jasper52 will conduct another no-reserve comic book auction on Sunday, Nov. 15. The bulk of the nearly 200 titles consists of Marvel and DC Comics superheroes, but Disney and Archie fans will find a nice selection of their comic characters as well. Because this is a no-reserve auction, the high bidder wins the lot, no matter how low the price. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.

Several coveted #1 issues are offered, including DC’s November 1972 revival of The Shadow (above), the 1930s radio and pulp fiction crimefighter. The DC series, which featured the artwork of Michael Kaluta, ran for only 12 issues.

Another #1 issue is DC’s return of Plastic Man, a quirky superhero from the 1940s. Plastic Man can stretch his body into any imaginable form. When Quality Comics shut down in 1956, DC Comics acquired many of its characters, giving Plastic Man a short-lived series, which started in December 1966.

Watershed events are important in comic book story lines. One such moment in Amazing Spider-Man #121 is the death of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s girlfriend, at the hands of his archenemy, the Green Goblin.
