Nova Ars auction delves deeply into Italian design April 7

ASTI, Italy – Nova Ars Auction will sell an interesting design collection at its online-only auction April 7. The sale lineup will include ceramics, furniture, lamps, chandeliers and glass works, with many objects made in Italy. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide absentee and Internet live bidding.

An important presence of lighting characterizes the auction, with Italian hanging lamps and chandeliers of the 20th century.

Designers represented in the sale include Carlo Scarpa, Vico Magistretti, Angelo Mangiarotti and Osvaldo Borsani.

Highlight pieces are a Marzio Cecchi table lamp of plastic coated fabric (above) and an 18-inch-high Andrea Anastasio Memphis vase (below).

Other standouts include a Piero Fornasetti pottery bust of an African man wearing a turban, a small Venini blown glass vase by Carlo Scarpa and an Osvaldo Borsani sofa.
