Nova Ars to celebrate Italian design at March 22 auction

ASTI, Italy – Furniture and lamps designed and made in Italy are again featured in Nova Ars’ online-only auction on March 22.

Absentee and Internet live bidding are available through LiveAuctioneers.com.

The auction consists of more than 100 lots, an interesting design collection of decorative arts of the 20th century, including glass and ceramics. Designers whose works are represented in this action include Joe Colombo, Vico Magistretti, Franco Albini and Osvaldo Borsani.

Highlights include a Franco Albini and Franca Helg PL 19 armchair of tubular metal with upholstered seat and back (above), a set of eight leather and wood chairs by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper in 1978, and a Alessandro Mendini laminated wood cabinet for Design Gallery circa 1980 (below).

Lighting standouts are a Pietro Chiesa floor lamp of brass and fabric for Fontana Arte and a pair of Poul Henningson copper hanging lamps for Louis Poulsen.
