ASTI, Italy – An interesting design collection of contemporary art and design of the 20th and 21st centuries will be offered by Nova Ars at an online-only auction Aug. 23. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.com.
The auction catalog contains more than 200 lots of ceramics, furniture, lighting and glassworks. Many of the items are made in Italy, from Angelo Mangiarotti and Alessandro Mendini to Ettore Sottsass and Ugo La Pietra.
An example of the contemporary art in the sale is a sculpture by Daniel Spoerri, titled Genetic Chain of the Flea Market, which is composed of found objects (above). This signed work dated Aug. 23, 2000 measures 100 inches by 24 inches by 10.4 inches. It has an estimate of 28,000–30,000 euros.
For the home are a pair of brass coffee tables by Studio Superego (below), which will be sold as a single lot (est. 4,000–4,500 euros).
Featured in the lighting category is a limited edition Ugo La Pietra Ruota lamp (below), which is estimated at 4,200-5,000 euros.
