ASTI, Italy – A thorough representation of 20th century design will be presented in Nova Ars’ final auction of the year on Wednesday, Dec.13. Absentee and Internet live bidding for this online-only auction is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The interesting design collection includes furniture, lamps, chandeliers, glass and ceramics; many of the items are designed and made in Italy.
Anything designed by Piero Fornasetti draws immediate attention, and this auction features a circa 1960 coffee table (above) consisting of an aluminum top with a Greek key design. The table measures 24 inches in diameter and is about 20 inches high. It is estimated at €800-€1,000 ($943-$1,179).
Elegant lighting includes a Mazzega 12-light chandelier by Carlo Nason (below). The chandelier consists of six blown-glass tubes that attach to polished steel fixtures, which also contain lights. The early 1970s chandelier has a €800-€1,000 estimate.
More Venetian glass can be found in two vases by Angelo Barovier of Barovier e Toso, which will sell as one lot and estimated at €1,000-€1,200.
The auction’s highest estimate goes to Max Ingrand’s Fontana Arte vase 2122, which is expected to sell for €3,000- €3,500. The colored crystal vase with a brass internal part was made circa 1960.
