Nye & Co. readies Chic & Antique Estate Treasures for Dec. 15-16

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Nye & Company Auctioneers’ two-day, online Chic and Antique Estate Treasures auction slated for Wednesday, December 15 and Thursday, December 16, will be headlined by a large selection of lovely studio ceramics from the collection of Steve and Stephanie Alpert. Bidding begins at 10 am Eastern time both days. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The auction offers a magnificent selection of estate jewelry. Worthy of special mention are three tempting rings: a platinum diamond and ruby three-stone ring; an emerald and diamond ring; and a cornflower blue sapphire and diamond ring. This last is estimated at $15,000-$20,000.

For those who prefer more whimsical pieces, there is a delightful Tiffany & Company diamond, platinum and gold frog form brooch, estimated at $5,000-$8,000.

The auction also features a wide range of fine art, including a collection of sporting art that has a heavy concentration of dog paintings from the 18th century through the present day. Artists include Edwin Henry Landseer, Samuel Spode, Henry Crowther and William Skilling, who deviates from the overall theme with a compelling undated oil on canvas of a snow leopard depicted on a black background. It is estimated at $2,000-$3,000.

Another strong artwork on offer is a subway drawing by Keith Haring, created between 1982 and 1984. The winsome piece is estimated at $20,000-$30,000. Additional street art in the sale comes from noted practitioners such as Michael “Tracy 168,” Nick Salsa and Johnny “Crash” Matos, bringing an Eighties modern aesthetic to the auction.
