LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – On Friday, Dec. 2, Rago will premiere Remix, an auction dedicated to the belief that the most livable and interesting rooms can’t be pinned to a decade or design period. To prove it Rago has curated a mix of contemporary design with everything from Rococo to Anglo-Indian and Americana. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.com.
“Every great designer aspires to compose a room with pieces that create the impression of having been collected over time,” said Arlen Sam Brown, Rago’s stylist and the specialist in charge of Remix, “When objects really shouldn’t communicate well, but do, it’s like a group of fascinating people brought together for a great dinner party. That’s ReMix.”
Rago has filled the sale with sexy, stylish pieces of modern design, urbane antiques, heirlooms, contemporary and classical art and shown how well they mix.
Highlights include Malcolm Bray, Picture This, painted Louis XV-style circa 1855 over-mantel mirror, USA, 2014; Set of 12 midcentury dining chairs, France; a pair of Eames Screens, mid-20th century; a pair of Italian lounge chairs and ottomans, mid 20th century; and several designs by Joan Busquets (below) from the private collection of art dealer, Allan Stone.
