Online estate auction June 8 boasts fine art, high-quality collectibles

STOUFFVILLE, Ontario – On Saturday, June 8, Oakwood Auctions will host an online estate auction boasting art, fine china and other collectibles. Commencing at 10 a.m. Eastern time, collectors are invited to explore a variety of high-quality collectibles, ranging from figurines and collector plates to lithographs and serigraphs by Picasso and Kravjansky. Features of the sale include a spectacular collection by Art Deco artist Erte (above; lots 0340-0346) who is known for his glamorous opera sets, costumes, jewelry and graphic art, and are estimated at $1,000-$1,750 each, a rare original lithograph by Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman (below; $450-$825); a rare collection of Clarence Alphonse Gagnon original study sketches on onion paper, estimated at $2,250-$3,000 and works by other notable artists such as Maimon and Lansdowne.

Jewelry and gem collectors will find interest in a small, yet desirable group of diamond rings and earrings, while those who appreciate collector plates will discover beautiful pieces by Dalton, Goebel and Hummel.

Other interesting additions to the estate are sterling silver pieces including Yoel Zidon’s Elderly Man (lot 0028) estimated at $250-$350, and the Hadany Silver Judaica figurine (lot 0290) estimated at $300-$500, and a beautiful sterling silver vase (lot 0098) $90-$175.

Antique collectors will find conversation-worthy pieces in an antique national sewing machine (lot 0356); Joseph Robson’s Hudson Bay, a book from 1972; John Levell’s History of Canada from 1866; and three beautiful hand-painted stained-glass windows (lots 1-3). Figurine collectors will take interest in the collection of Lladro figurines, including Rickshaw Ride (lot 0156) and The Thai Couple”(lot 0219), expected to bring $400-$600.
