STOURPAINE, UK – Onslows Auctioneers will sell collection of Porsche racing posters and related memorabilia collected by a member of the Stuttgart factory styling department in the early 1970s at a July 9 auction. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide absentee and Internet live bidding.

The posters feature the Porsche’s racing successes including Le Mans, Daytona, Brands Hatch and Sebring. Estimates on these go from £150 up to £500 for a poster featuring actor and racing enthusiast Steve McQueen (above).

A rare collection of posters published by the GPO (General Post Office) between the 1930s and 1960s is also featured in the auction of nearly 450 lots. These posters match those that can be found in the British Postal Museum & Archive collection, housed in London. The proceeds of the sale will go toward delivering the Postal Museum, a new national museum due to open in 2016.

A colorful group of posters from the 1930s golden era of the Indian Raj have will be sold, and collection of 1930s aviation posters and ephemera promoting the air show and circus team of World War 1 RFC pilot Sir Alan Cobham is expected to have a wide following.

A set of six London Transport posters from 1944 by Walter Spradbery, which shows city landmarks standing amid bomb-damaged buildings, was published to lift morale among the blitz-worn city dwellers. The rare set, estimated to fetch a total of £2,000-£4,000, will be auctioned individually.
