TIMONIUM, Md. – The next auction for Over & Above Online Auctions will be a collaborative effort with their affiliate, Richard Opfer Auctioneering Inc., on Wednesday, Aug. 29. This sale is an estate collection that features a large assortment of books, mainly scientific in nature. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Topics include light and optics, chemistry, microscopes, metalworking, machinist catalogs and guides, engineering, horology, automotive engineering, natural history, anatomy, and much more. Other books from this collection include adventure books, naval and war-related topics, history books, Maryland and Baltimore history, and many other subjects.

The sale also includes an interesting assortment of maps, atlases, and related, many dating from the early 1800’s, some earlier. A rare and unusual mariner’s chart dating from 1836 is another auction highlight.

Also included in this collection is a fantastic selection of stereo cards and stereo viewers. Two boxed volumes of Edinburgh University Stereoscopic Anatomy are part of this collection, featuring photographs of dissected and identified organs and limbs. The auction also features a boxed set of Keystone Views’ “World War through the Stereoscope,” showing troops, casualties, tanks and related views. Other stereo views of interest include Johnstown Flood views, California earthquake views, battleship views, Columbian Exposition views, Egypt Archaeology views, views of China and Japan, comic views and more. A boxed Keystone set of Yosemite views, views of Luray Caverns, Niagara Falls, and Watkins Glen; and other spectacular images, will be featured in this auction.
