SARASOTA, Fla. – Andrew Ford’s Sarasota Estate Auctions has been gathering fine art and antiques for their upcoming two sales on the weekend of March 28-29. The catalogs are now completed and there are many outstanding pieces for this sale. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.
There will be fine art from 19th century American artists, such as Childe Hassam, Bruce Crane, Hugh Bolton Jones and Charles Curtis Allen.
There is also African art from several collections that include sculptures from Maasai tribe of Kenya, Senufo and Baule peoples of Ivory Coast, the Bobo tribe from Burkina Faso and more from Mali and Tanzania. One of the pieces drawing great interest is a Chokwe mask, Angola, in carved wood.
A selection of the paintings to be offered includes the Julio deDiego gauche titled Helena and the World of Mirrors to lead the sale. Following that will be a scenic oil on canvas by New York state artist Hugh Bolton Jones from the late 19th century, and Grand Manaan Coast, another oil by Edward Moran (1829-1901).
There are also bronzes from Erte, Chinese jade and porcelain, silver from the last 250 years from England, Asia and America, as well as some Haitian art works.
This sale will include a collection of outsider art. A collection of Early American furniture in tiger maple including two chests, a tilt-top stand and a large frame are included in the sale.
A portion of all proceeds from this auction will go to the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota to assist students and faculty.
