PHILADELPHIA — Freeman’s Wednesday, March 22 Jewelry and Watches auction features the esteemed single-owner jewelry collection of Dianne Kay, an American socialite, philanthropist, community activist and chairman of the American Cancer Society Ball. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The standout of the Kay collection is a showstopping 9.45-carat diamond and platinum ring, an anniversary gift to Dianne from her husband Alan and a token to commemorate the purchase of their Virginia estate, Merrywood, which was also the childhood home of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The ring carries an estimate of $50,000-$70,000.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to work with the collection of Dianne Kay,” said Head of Freeman’s Jewelry and Watches department Lourdes Winnick. “Dianne’s elegant collection accompanied her on her many philanthropic endeavors, and it’s an exciting opportunity for collectors to be able to own a piece of this history.”

Freeman’s Jewelry and Watches sales are preeminent destinations for collecting impressive diamonds, and the department’s March 22 auction is no exception. The auction brings a dazzling array of diamond rings to market, including the sale’s leading lot: a 5.85-carat diamond and 18K gold ring, estimated at $70,000-$90,000.

The sale’s selection offers styles suited to a wide range of collectors, from a striking emerald, diamond, platinum and 18K gold Tiffany & Co. ring, estimated at $20,000-$30,000, to classic, timeless designs such as a 14K white gold and diamond riviere necklace.

The Jewelry and Watches sale also includes a fresh array of watches, led by a 1975 Rolex President Day-Date with a Spanish calendar wheel in 18K gold. Other offerings include designs by the industry’s most sought-after names, from an 18K men’s Patek Philippe gold watch to Cartier tank designs, a Tiffany & Co. pocket watch, and examples by Harry Winston and Omega.
