DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – On Tuesday, June 11, and Wednesday, June 12, Pook & Pook Inc. will host its last auction of the season with a 1,400-lot Decorative Arts Sale. The sale will also encompass a variety of objects including Asian material, 21 Russian icons, dozens of carpets, hundreds of pieces of furniture and art, over 50 lots of jewelry, Lalique, metalware, woodenware, coins, textiles, firearms, fishing rods, automobiles and hundreds of other decorative accessories.

Soon after the start of the auction on Tuesday morning, 16 lots of fishing equipment will cross the auction block. These lots include numerous bamboo fly rods as well as fishing lures and fishing reels. Following the fishing equipment is a selection of bird figures. These lots include carved wood duck decoys and shorebird decoys. Immediately after the birds is the first of two selections of Native American articles including dolls, baskets, and trade beads. Of particular interest are the large Native American skookum display dolls. One lot of skookum dolls is estimated to bring $1,000-1,500.

A large portion of Tuesday’s sale will encompass the private antique collection of G. Carroll Lindsay of Strasburg, Pa. Pook & Pook Inc. had the privilege of selling the first half of Lindsay’s collection in April of this year. Lindsay worked for numerous important museums in his life including the Smithsonian Institute, Winterthur and New York State Museum. His lifelong interest in antiques and paintings is evident in his private collection (lots 200-295).

A large collection of firearms will be offered during Wednesday’s session, including Pennsylvania rifles, 19th and early 20th century military rifles, Colt Woodsman target pistols, a Continental flintlock blunderbuss estimated at $1,500 to $2,000, and a Stephen Grant & Sons engraved double-barrel shotgun estimated at $3,000 to $5,000. Over 40 lots of firearms will cross the block (lots 800-846).

The auction will conclude with a collection of 11 automobiles including a 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix, estimated at $8,000 to $12,000, a 1971 MG Roadster convertible, estimated at $8,000 to $12,000, and a 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS, estimated at $15,000 to $20,000.
