DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – More than 1,500 lots of furniture, art and accessories will cross the auction block as Pook & Pook Inc. conducts its largest-ever Variety Sale Dec. 4-5. Included in this expansive sale are 200 lots from the collection of Richard and Rosemarie Machmer.

The furniture up for auction includes an interesting mix of American, Continental and English pieces. This assortment is composed of sideboards, Dutch cupboards, corner cupboards, chests of drawers, sofas, chairs, beds, tea tables, candle stands, dining tables, tall case clocks, children’s furniture and various other furniture items.

The list of accessories is extensive as well and includes mantel clocks, various textiles, lamps, stoneware, redware, wrought iron, brass, pewter, mirrors, woodenware, porcelain, soft paste, glass, jewelry, watches, books, toys, mechanical banks, fraktur and many other accessory items. Several noteworthy collections include more than 30 firearms, swords, shields, powder horns and various military accessories.

An expansive collection of carvings will also be presented. These include several bird tree carvings, bird carvings and other figures. Several dozen lots of gold and silver coins and paper currency will also be offered.

Several hundred American and Continental paintings, prints and other art will be offered. These include portraits, landscapes, seascapes, etchings, Currier and Ives prints, and sculptures.
Preview will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1-3 and until the start of the sale on both Thursday and Friday. The auction will start at 3 p.m. on Dec. 4 and at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5.
Pook & Pook’s Variety Sale will be conducted at the main gallery at 463 E. Lancaster Ave. in Downington.
