DOWNINGTOWN, Pa. – Pook & Pook Inc. will conduct an online-only auction of antiques and decorative arts on Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2. Approximately 1,500 lots will cross the auction block in this fast-paced two-day sale. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Highlights of the sale include the James Cotton collection of British commemorative Staffordshire (above) and part one of the Jim and Patricia Doherty paperweight collection (below).
Pook & Pook online-only auctions run similar to a regular salesroom auction with the lots being sold one at a time in lot number order. The only difference is that there are no bidders in the salesroom or on the phones. All bidding, both live and absentee, takes place online.
Leading the selection of fine art is a large oil on canvas by J. Ed. Quigley (American mid-20th century) that depicts an early American sign painter at work (below).
Numerous lots of jewelry are offered, including a Marguerite Stix shell brooch in 14K yellow gold with small diamond accents and a ruby cabochon tear drop pendant (below).
