NEW YORK – Jasper52’s Street Art & Pop Art Prints online auction on Dec. 5 features affordable works by renowned artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Indiana. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Most of the prints are on paper, but a stencil/spray work attributed to Banksy is actual street art done on a road sign from the United Kingdom (above). From a private collection, this unique version of Girl with Red Heart Balloon carries a $700-$800 estimate.
American pop and street artists are well represented in the 128-lot auction. Six Keith Haring prints are offered in the auction including two of his Lucky Strike images, one in full color and one in white (below). Both are authorized by the Keith Haring Foundation.
Roy Lichtenstein’s famous As I Opened Fire is depicted in a triptych lithograph published for the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 1966. The comic strip-style work is printed on museum board (heavyweight paper).
Another classic Lichtenstein image depicting a worried blonde beauty is a limited-edition silkscreen on museum board, framed in passe-partout measuring 28 inches square.
Ten Andy Warhol works are offered in the Jasper52 auction. Half of them are Sunday B Morning prints of his Flowers series. The Flowers 3 print in the auction has black stamps verso.
A lithograph of Robert Indiana’s Four Winds is from the 1 Cent Life portfolio published by E.W. Kornfeld in Switzerland and numbered 939/2000. Printed in 1964, the print is guaranteed authentic.
Other noted artists represented in the auction are Jim Dine, Alfred Jenson, Pierre Aelchinsky, Jim Steinberg and Walasse Ting.
