CHICAGO – On Friday, March 31, starting at 10 am Central time, Hindman will present a sale of Asian Decorative Art, featuring more than 400 lots of porcelain, jade, metalwork and stone sculpture. The timed-closing online sale highlights selections from the estate of Richard S. Ravenal of Livingston Manor, New York, as well as offerings from the eclectic collection of the late Jose M. Neistein of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Washington. D.C. In addition, the auction is part of a series of Hindman sales of Asian art that includes its Chinese & Himalayan Works of Art auction on Tuesday, March 28 and its Japanese & Korean Works of Art sale on Wednesday, March 29. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Highlights are led by a Chinese celadon ground gilt porcelain globular vase, or tianqiuping, which carries an estimate of $3,000-$5,000. It stands slightly more than 12in tall, and its globular body rises from a short straight foot to a long neck, richly gilded with lotus scrolls, all against a pale celadon ground.

Its exterior is incised with two five-clawed dragons striding amid flames in pursuit of flaming pearls, all in green enamel on a yellow ground. Its estimate is $600-$800.
