This hexagonal glass jar used to hold small bags of peanuts. It would sit on a store counter, tempting store patrons to dip in and buy a packet of the salty snacks. Who could resist the image of the fabulous Mr. Peanut, complete with top hat and cane? This great-looking advertising piece entered as Lot 101 is expected to make $50-$125.

Collecting toy soldiers is one of the world’s most popular hobbies. It attracts fans of all ages. Paige’s auction has several very nice groupings of soldiers in their sale, like Lot 115, for example. This five-piece set was made by the premier manufacturer of soldiers: Britains. Known as the #32 set, it was produced at Britain’s factory in England from 1944 till 1960. The regiment is known as the Royal Scots Greys, and it comes in its original box. Each figure is of hollow-cast lead and is hand-painted. Estimate: $100-$250.
