NEW YORK – Roland Auctions NY will present the sixth of many specialized auctions containing political collections from the estate of Dr. Alan York on Friday, Dec. 16. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

A nationally renowned collector, York’s vast historical holdings tell the story of Western Civilization and the history of the United States of America from George Washington’s 1789 inauguration through the new millennium.

Medals offered throughout the Dec. 16 sale span two centuries. Viewed chronologically, this group begins with George Washington’s presidency and concludes with Harry S. Truman at the end of World War II. A few representational items from this auction include an 1805 Eccleston Washington Medal (above), an 1841 John Tyler Inaugural Medal, a 1921 Warren G. Harding Inaugural Medal, an 1857 James Buchanan Indian Peace Medal (below); an 1854 Royal Hawaiian Agricultural Society Exhibition Medal, an 1868 Prince of Wales Knight of St. Patrick Installation Medal, an 1865 Dublin International Exhibition Medal, and an 1869 Invincible Temperance Long Service Badge.
