ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The lifetime gambling and coin-op collection of Richard and Mary Schulte of Michigan, plus three other outstanding collections, will co-headline Showtime Auction Services’ three-day spring auction slated for the weekend of March 31 through April 2. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The other collections include part II of the Tiny Moyer salesman’s sample and child’s stove collection from Maryland, Ron Sturgeon’s German cut-away school model car collection from Texas; a fabulous country store and advertising collection of Donna and Bruce Weir from Illinois; and the diverse and eclectic collection of trade signs and many other unusual items from the Don Sayrizi collection in Oregon. In all, more than 2,000 lots will come up for bid over the course of the three sale days.
“Any one of these four fine collections would be able to stand alone and make any auctioneer proud, but to have all four in one sale is like a perfect storm, and I mean that in a good sense,” said Mike Eckles of Showtime Auction Services, based in Woodhaven, Michigan.
Collecting categories will include advertising, breweriana, trade signs, reverse glass signs, trays, country store, general store, medical, quack medical, optical, RX, dental, sewing, millinery, spool cabinets, dye cabinets, shoes, grocery, crocks, coffee, tea, Coca-Cola, soda, soda fountain, ice cream, barber shop, gum, gum machines, popcorn, peanuts, salesman’s samples, toys, cap guns, slot machines, coin-op, gambling, whiskey, saloon, brothel, cigar, tobacco, match holders and match safes, trade signs, express, cars, factory models, automobilia, petroliana, motorcycle, bicycle, advertising and regular clocks, Black Americana, farm, hardware, paint, veterinary, showcases, store counters and more.
On Friday morning, March 31, from 8-10 am Eastern time, about 200 lots will come up for bid before a live audience at the at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. Starting at 10 a.m, the auction will open up to Internet live bidding.
