Rock stars lead all-star lineup

NEW YORK – Rock ’n’ roll and pop music take center stage in an entertainment memorabilia auction that will be conducted by Jasper52 on Wednesday, Sept. 9. In addition to signed album covers and stringed instruments, the 73-lot online auction includes movie memorabilia and original comic art. Bid absentee or live online exclusively through LiveAuctioneers.

A trio of musical instruments are included in the auction catalog led by a Fender base (above) signed by the members of the heavy metal band Metallica: James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and bassist Jason Newsted. The Fender base comes with a certificate of authenticity and carries a $2,000-$2,500 estimate.

Numerous LP albums, their covers signed by the recording artists, are featured in the auction. Topping the chart is the 1981 Rolling Stones release Tattoo You (below), the cover signed by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Ronnie Wood (est. $600-$700).

Bruce Springsteen’s 1975 groundbreaking album Born to Run is signed by “The Boss” and members of the E Street Band: Clarence Clemons, Daniel Federici, Garry Tallent, Little Steven, Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg (est. $800-$1,000).

Movie memorabilia offered in the auction includes a poster for the William Wyler film ‘The Desperate Hours’ starring Frederick March and Humphrey Bogart. The poster depicts a gun-wielding Bogie, playing an escaped convict, who terrorizes a family. The 21½ -by-25-inch framed poster is signed by Bogart (est. $1,200-$1,500).

A crossover collectible offered in the auction is an 8-by-10 color photo of former film actors who became a U.S. president and first lady, Ronald and Nancy Reagan. The framed photo is signed, “With Best Wishes – Ronald Reagan 40th Pres.” ($550-$700).
