NEW YORK — Roland Auctions NY will hold a major auction Saturday, May 16, commencing at 10 a.m. Eastern. This sale boasts over 800 fresh-to-market lots from exceptional estates throughout New York City and is expected to be fast-paced and well-attended.

LiveAuctioneers.com will provide absentee and Internet live bidding.

Remarking on the caliber of merchandise, principal Robert Roland said, “While everyone is bemoaning the state of the market for traditional antiques, we have full confidence that this auction’s offerings will make our consignors very happy.”

With makers including the likes of Tiffany & Co. and Francois Linke alongside signed antique European and Asian objects, this sale encompasses luxury items of the first order on a nearly global scale,” he added.

Already gaining tremendous interest in this category are a group of large modern and contemporary sculptures from an important Connecticut estate by Joseph McDonnell, Reuben Nakian, Hanneke Beaumont and Arman (below).

Standing nearly 24 inches high, this ornate sterling silver mirror by Tiffany & Co. is estimated at $20,000-$25,000.

Also from Tiffany & Co. is this 19th century ornate bronze wall clock, which has a $20,000-$30,000 estimate.

This Francois Linke cabinet in mahogany is an example of the fine antique furniture in the sale. It has a $10,000-$20,000 estimate.

Representing the modernism designs in the auction is this brass and Lucite lighting fixture that displays a celestial look. It is estimated at $400-$600.
