NEW YORK – Roland Auctions NY will present its eighth and final specialized auction containing selections from the Estate of Dr. Alan York on Saturday, Nov. 11. This legendary collection tells the story of Western Civilization and the history of the United States from George Washington’s presidency through the new millennium. Essential American themes represented in this ambitious auction span over two centuries and feature U.S. presidential campaigns, Abolition, U.S. Civil War, Temperance and Prohibition, the Suffragette Movement, World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and the U.S. and USSR Space Race. Lot 167 – Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson 1864 presidential campaign ferrotype jugate badge. An exceedingly rare specimen. While approximately half a dozen of these ferrotype jugate pinbacks are known to collectors, this unique example bears no enamel accents. Estimate $4,000 to $6,000.

Lot 388 – Soviet Cosmonaut signed philatelic cover hoard. This gathering of over 150 commemorative covers includes missions spanning Vostok 2 (1962) through Soyuz 10 (1971) along with other space exploration themes. Stamped postal cancellation dates comprise March 26, 1962 through April 24, 1971. Estimate $15,000-$20,000.

Lot 438 – W.H. Tucker Kayess silk Confederate leadership handkerchief. This rare Civil War item features a portrait of Confederate President Jefferson Davis at center against a blue printed background with indigenous Southern foliage. Davis is surrounded by portraits of notable Confederate military and diplomatic personalities. Estimate $8,000 to $12,000.
