GLEN COVE, N.Y. – Roland Auctions NY will present its Fall Estates Auction on Saturday, November 5, starting at 10 am Eastern time. It will feature hundreds of lots of fine art, 20th-century Modern material, antique and vintage furniture, textiles, silver, jewelry, rugs, collectibles, Asian art, decorative arts and lighting. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Fine art choices are led by Moses and Serpent, a canvas attributed to Simone Cantarini (Italian, 1612-1648) and depicting the story of Moses and the brass serpent. It is accompanied by a plaque lettered in Hebrew and it is estimated at $10,000-$15,000.
Also featured is a Senaka Senanayake (Sri Lankan, b. 1951-) painting titled Figures in a Landscape. Framed and signed at the lower right, its estimate is $6,000-$9,000. Equally notable is an undated Emilio Grau Sala (Spanish, 1911-1975) work, Mother and Child, a charming
Impressionist portrait estimated at $7,000-$8,000.
An eclectic selection of decorative items are also showcased at Roland, among them an antique bronze bell sculpture, estimated $15,000-$20,000, and a 19th-century French papier mache Growler bulldog, fitted with an articulating mouth and casters under its feet. It has an estimate of $1,000-$2,000. Also offered is a pair of antique iron Classical-style figural relief painted urns, estimated at $2,000-$3,000.
In the furniture arena, the standout is an antique Mira mahogany disc player. Its luxurious cabinet is graced with painted scrolling details, and its lower section is equipped with disc-holding dividers. It is in working order, is offered with 29 metal player discs, and is estimated at $5,000-$7,000.
