NEW YORK – Roland Auction of New York City will present their end-of-summer discovery sale on Saturday, Aug. 18, with Internet live bidding through LiveAuctioneers.com.

Following a very successful July auction, New York’s “downtown” auction house promises a sale with many bargains and possibly a few sleepers.

“It’s a well-rounded sale with very few reserves” said owner Bill Roland. “It’s a great opportunity to pick up a few key pieces to brighten your home and be ready for fall entertaining.”

There is certainly no shortage of paintings, sculpture and works on paper in the auction lineup. There are many striking modern abstracts as well as antique portraits, marine art, landscapes and sets of decorative prints for every taste.

Antique and fine reproduction furniture in a plethora of styles will be available, as well. Everything from a 19th-century ornately carved desk to stately French armchairs and fine Georgian furniture is in the mix. Modern design, a staple at Roland, is in no short supply either. French, Italian, Scandinavian and American mid-century chairs, tables, lighting and decorations are plentiful. A magnificent 12-panel mirrored floor screen offers the perfect backdrop for these stylish pieces.

An intriguing offering of precious jewelry and collectible costume pieces will be available. Bidders can also take advantage of the selection of fine table silver, porcelain dinner services and crystal stemware to prepare for the upcoming holidays.

So far, this has been a very good year for Roland. The estates of Arthur Laurents and Dame Celia Farris sold during the spring and summer months, drawing a new crowd to the gallery. Still others have discovered the popular New York gallery through online catalogs posted on LiveAuctioneers.com.

The Aug. 18 sale will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. For additional information, call 212-260-2000.
