Route 32 Auctions to hold high-octane petroliana sales Aug. 2-3

DES MOINES, Iowa – For over 30 years the Iowa Gas Swap Meet has been the premier gas and oil show in the country. The 2018 Iowa Gas Swap Meet will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 3. Along with the swap meet, Iowa Gas also hosts an auction onsite at the venue. Route 32 Auctions of Crawfordsville, Indiana, will conduct the 2018 Iowa Gas Auction on Aug. 2-3. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Route 32 Auctions, which specializes in petroliana and automobilia as well as general store memorabilia, will hold an auction featuring a Mobil collection on Thursday at 6 p.m. Central time/7 p.m. Eastern. Featured in this auction are several large Mobilgas porcelain signs including a rare die cut Mobilgas Marine sign (above) as well as a Mobil Magnolia Gasoline gas pump globe with its original metal body (below).

Friday will be the larger auction featuring approximately 475 lots. It will start at 9 a.m. Central/10 a.m. Eastern. The high-octane sale includes the following highlights:

– A rare Polly Gas neon sign, one of the few original porcelain Polly signs that did not have neon originally. Over the years neon was added to this one.

– A Husky Service shield porcelain sign that has fantastic gloss and color with amazing graphics.

– A rare Musgo Michigan’s Mile Maker globe marked “made in USA” on the base.
