LOS ANGELES – Abell Auction Co. will offer an important collection of fine art, antiques, furniture, decorative arts and jewelry on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m. PDT. The online-only auction will feature furniture by Sam Maloof, one of the most celebrated American furniture designer-craftsmen of our time. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

The Maloof furniture collection is being sold in honor of the late art collector and patron Lynn Altman and in support of the Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, a collections-based research and educational institution serving scholars and the general public for more than a century. Items include a set of 12 dining chairs (above), walnut dining table, club chair and ottoman, walnut pedestal table, pair of walnut end tables, walnut game table and a walnut three-piece buffet.

Fine art in the upcoming auction includes paintings, drawings and sculptures signed by artists such as Charles Arthur Arnold, Enrique Grau Araujo, Michele Cascella, Edouard Cortes, Joseph Csaky, Peter Ellenshaw, Jean-Louis Gregoire, Frank Tenney Johnson, Eduardo Kingman, Louis Aston Knight, Greg Miller, Paul Mount, Tom Dale Palmore, Hanson Puthuff, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Richard Guino, Sueo Sersawa, Nicola Simbari and Herbart Ward and Andy Warhol.

Modern and contemporary prints and multiples include works signed by Richard Diebenkorn, David Hockney, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, Robert Motherwell, Claes Oldenburg, Frank Romero, Ed Ruscha and Charles White.

Antique and modern furniture includes a Guy de Rougemont brass cloud-form coffee table, made famous by French designer Henri Samuel; Louis Majorelle salon suite; Steinway & Sons mahogany grand piano; pair of George II carved wood eagle consoles in the manner of William Kent; Walter Lamb for Brown Jordan patio table and chairs; French ormolu-mounted and lapis lazuli salon table; and fine 18th and 19th century European furnishings.

Jewelry is highlighted by an impressive collection of Art Deco jewelry; David Webb 18K yellow gold and diamond cuff bracelet; Bulgari 18K yellow gold woven bracelet; Jaeger-LeCoultre 18K white gold, diamond and sapphire watch;  Chopard 18K gold and diamond “Happy Diamonds” watch; platinum, 18K yellow gold and diamond ring (below; 5.76 carats, J/VS2); 14K yellow gold and diamond ring (4.30 carats, K/VS2); an Art Deco-style 18K gold, diamond and synthetic sapphire ring (2.03 carats, F/VS2); and a Marina B-style 18K yellow gold, sapphire and diamond necklace.
