WASHINGTON, D.C. – 1STBID’s next auction will take place Sunday, June 5, starting at 2 pm Eastern time. It will feature more than 222 antique and vintage items ranging from 18th-century paintings to contemporary sculpture and tribal rugs handwoven by Qashqai nomads. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Reflecting the latest trends in art collection, many of the lots will be sold with a high-quality digital copy, or non-fungible token (NFT), which remains uniquely in the buyer’s possession at no additional cost. The sale represents an opportunity to start collecting NFTs while also acquiring a corresponding physical original artwork.

Leading the sale lineup is an undated Fernando Botero bronze of a plump English gentleman banker. It has a provenance that traces to the Hascoe Family collection and it is estimated at $700,000-$800,000.

A second strong entry from the sculptures category is an abstract marble form on a wooden base (shown at top of page) created by renowned British artist Barbara Hepworth. Its estimate is $90,000-$100,000.

Paintings of note include a signed, undated seascape by Hudson River School artist Alfred Britcher, shown above. It is estimated at $100,000-$150,000.

The rug and textile choices in the June 5 sale are many and legion. Standouts include an antique Persian Lavar Kerman rug woven with an image styled after a tapestry by the French artistic legend Francois Boucher. It is estimated at $75,000-$85,000.
