Selection of artwork is strong suit at Jenack auction Nov. 13

CHESTER, N.Y. – William Jenack Estate Appraisers and Auctioneers will open their fall season Sunday, Nov. 13, selling jewelry, Chinese art, 18th- through 20th-century furniture and decorative accessories, carpets, sculpture and more.

The auction, which will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, will be conducted at Jenack’s New York facility. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.

Artwork will be the strongest part of the sale including such artists as Picasso, Yuri Klever, Pawel Tchelitchew, Boris Israelevich Anisfeld, Anthony Toney, Gerard Ernest Schneider, Miro, Frederick Tordoff and Francois du Mont.

The work by Anisfeld is oil on artist board, a landscape with horses. It is signed and dated 1934.

A 1953 volume by Jacque Lassaigne titled Picasso features original drawings by Picasso inside.

The Francois du Mont work is an oil on cradled panel of a cavalier playing a mandolin.

Furniture highlights will include a set of six Gustav Stickley no. 308 dining chairs, an extension dining table with five leaves, a no. 72 lectern, a Charles Eames for Herman Miller table and set of three Pollock chairs by Knoll Studios.

The sale will have several pieces of period furniture including several small New York Federal period stands and tables. Two cherry Chippendale-style chests of drawers by Henkel-Harris and several pieces of 19th-century Anglo-Indian furniture will also be sold.

In the accessories area Jenack will be selling a large collection of carved and gilt frames, American and Continental, of the 19th and early 20th century. A private collection of cast-iron door stops with some rare examples including a Bradley & Hubbard painted elephant, J. Held Jr. “Dapper Dan,” Taylor Cook no. 2 painted elephant and many others.

For the collectibles enthusiast several lots of vintage Lladro figures will be offered, including a large bisque horse group and a Siamese dancer. Several lots of American Southwest Indian and ethnic jewelry will also be sold.

Jenack will again offer several lots of vintage Chinese carved ivory figures, including a pair of exquisitely carved stained ivory female figures, a “flying” horse, warriors and others.

This is an eclectic sale with something for everyone and a price range that all can afford, said Jenack’s associate appraiser Kevin Decker.
