NEW YORK – Jasper52 will host a rare book auction of nearly 150 lots on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The auction includes leather-bound books, sets and fine bindings with treasures in every price range. Featured is a signed copy of The Philosophy of Andy Warhol from A to B & Back Again by Andy Warhol. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

Warhol’s book (above) is a first edition from 1975. It is signed by inscribed by Warhol to Nicci (Nicola), the wife of jewelry designer Kenneth Jay Lane. The 241-page hardbound book is in excellent condition with minor wear to the dust jacket (est. $900-$1,100).

Another rare modern book is titled Nangsu Faberge – Thai & English Edition (below), which was published in 1983. It chronicles the historical events surrounding the Thai Royal visits and interactions with the Russian nobility (King Chulalongkorn and Czar Nicholas II) and their craftsmen during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The latter section of the 228-page book illustrates the Faberge pieces either commissioned by the Thai Royals or the pieces presented to them by the czar. The dust jacket shows minor wear and nicks (est. $600-$700).

Tennessee Williams stories are contained in a rare book titled Kingdom of Earth with Hard CandyA Book of Stories, 1954. It is No. 5 from an edition of 100 and signed by the author. This book is in overall good to very good condition. The slip case shows some wear and minor yellowing (est. $1,200-$1,500).

A 58-page softbound book, published in 1942 and titled First Papers of Surrealism is another rare find. Its title page notes, “hanging by Andre Breton, his twine Marcel Duchamp” (est. $900-$1,100).

A three-volume “Imperial Edition” of the works of Shakespeare is undated but appears to be from the late 1800s (est. $900-$1,100).
