SJ Auctioneers Dec. 26 sale musters vintage toys and trains
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – SJ Auctioneers‘ next sale, titled Trains, Toys, Collectibles and Designer Scarves, takes place Sunday, December 26, starting at 4 pm Eastern time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Leading the 140-lot auction is a circa-1940s original Marx tin litho wind-up Jumpin Jeep, estimated at $500-$1,000. A second strong entry is a Lil’ Abner Dog Patch Piano wind-up tin toy. Dating to 1945 and estimated at $1,000-$5,000, the toy features four characters from the popular 20th-century comic strip gathered around an upright piano.
Another head-turner is a scarce tin litho friction motor driven GMC cab telephone service car made in 1955 by the Ashai Toys company of Japan. It carries an estimate of $500-$1,000.
