OAKLAND, Calif. – Clars Auction Gallery will present the Spring Design auction on Thursday, March 16, featuring highlights across genres and countries. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

On offer will be a fine selection of pottery and ceramics, including a Stan Bitters medallion, measuring three feet, two inches in diameter and estimated at $12,000-$15,000. Bitters is renowned for his influence on the California arts and crafts scene since the 1960s.

Also featuring prominently in the auction is a large Gertud and Otto Natzler bowl, having a fine blue-gray matte glaze and measuring almost 13in wide. The bowl has a conservative estimate of $5,000-$7,000. Other ceramicists represented in the March 16 auction include Toshiko Takaezu, Ka-Kwong Hui, Annabeth Rosen, Richard Hirsch and Brother Thomas Bezanson.

Furniture choices are led by a Michel Buffet B211 floor lamp that carries an estimate of $7,000-$10,000, as well as several lots by designer Hans J. Wegner, such as a set of eight Heart chairs estimated at $4,200-$5,200; a pair of Hans Wegner JH-101 Lounge chairs and a JH-103 Sofa, among others. In addition, there will be a pair of Finn Juhl NV-45s offered with an estimate of $20,000-$30,000.

The American furniture selection includes a Philip and Kelvin Laverne Fantasia coffee table estimated at $5,000-$7,000; a Charles and Ray Eames 670 and 671 lounge chair and ottoman; and an Ettore Sottsass Westside lounge chair.

As for early 20th-century items, consider a Tiffany Studios table lamp with a Vine Border (Acorn) shade, estimated at $7,000-$9,000; as well as a circa-1930 Thebes stool attributed to Liberty & Co. and estimated at $800-$1,200.

In the category of sterling silver will be a Tiffany & Co. Audubon flatware set estimated at $7,000-$9,000 and a Christofle Sceaux flatware set with an estimate of $6,000-$9,000.
