Sterling silver gleams in Jasper52 decorative arts auction Feb. 5

NEW YORK – More than 200 fine furnishings to adorn a comfortable home are offered in an online auction to be conducted by Jasper52 on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The emphasis is on silver including items by Georg Jensen and Tiffany and Co. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The Georg Jensen highlight is a sterling silver pedestal bowl or compote #296E (above), which stands 2 3/8 inches high and 6¼ inches in diameter. It weighs 308.4 grams and is in excellent condition.

The revered Tiffany & Co. name surfaces 10 times in the auction, led by a stylish sterling silver tea set (below) consisting of a teapot, sugar bowl, creamer and 13-inch tray. Each piece is marked, original and authentic. In excellent condition, the set is expected to sell for $3,000-$3,500.

A pair of candlesticks made in the 1920s or ’30s by noted German silversmith Johann Georg Hossauer will add a touch of elegance to any table setting. The candlesticks stand 10 1/8 inches high and have stamped hallmarks.

More than a dozen clocks are offered in the auction ranging from the 18th century to the modern era. Dating to the 1770s is a Louis XVI gold-plated bronze and marble shelf clock by French maker Folin Laine, which has a $14,000-$16,000 estimate.

In stark contrast is a rare Cartier desk clock in a gold and Lucite case, 4 by 3 inches, which has a LeCoultre seven-jewel movement.

The auction also boasts an ample helping of European porcelain, none nicer than a 27-inch-tall hand-painted and bronze ormolu Sevres vase.

Nineteen lots of colorful Murano glass objects will also be sold.
