Street art masters featured in online auction Aug. 8

NEW YORK – Contemporary art lovers can tag their walls with a collection of street art offered in a Jasper52 online auction taking place Wednesday, Aug. 8. With their roots running deep into street art are such widely known names as LA II, Cope2, Pure Evil, and the team of The Producer BDB x Flore, and they’re all represented in this sale. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Collaborating with Flore is The Producer BDB, whose drawings combine pop icons with current fashion trends. Their painting titled Kate Boss (above) is expected to be the top lot in the auction. The 36-by-24-inch acrylic and resin on wood panel is valued at $10,000-$12,000.

Love Stinks is a mixed media painting by New York artist LA II. The 16-by-14-inch work is signed both verso and recto (est. $1,000-$1,200).

Cope2’s Remix is a larger acrylic and spray enamel collage on linen, which has been taken off stretchers and will be shipped rolled and unstretched in a heavy-duty tube ($2,000-$2,500).

I Want to be a Celebrity is a screen print on archival paper by Los Angeles-based street artist Plastic Jesus, whose urban art is influenced by news and culture. The 24-by18-inch print is signed “A/P PP 3/10.”

Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York published a lithograph of Keith Haring’s Russian Doll. The 10-inch-square print is from a limited edition of 2,000.

Masters of War is artist Pure Evil’s response President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un’s nuclear weapons saber rattling. Produced in 2018, the hand-pulled silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 30.
