Texans posed to lead Vogt’s Western Art Auction March 6

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Vogt Auction Galleries’ Texas & Western Art Auction will feature 186 lots of original fresh-to-market artworks from private collections and estates throughout Texas. The sale will take place on Saturday, March 6, at 1 p.m. Central time. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.

Featured in the auction is the striking colorful portrait by John Nieto, Thundercloud (above), acrylic on canvas with an estimate of $20,000-$24,000.

The collection will also include artwork by renowned Texas artists Porfirio Salinas (below), G. Harvey, Mary Bonner, Robert Wood, José Arpa and many more.

Several paintings of Texas landscapes will be included such as the Otis Dozier oil on canvas titled Big Bend, (estimate: $20,000-$24,000).

Also included are many artworks depicting Western cowboy scenes like the Raul Gutierrez, On Horseback, oil on board (estimate: $5,000-$7,000) and the Frederic Remington, Mountain Man, recast bronze (estimate: $4,000-$6,000).

Additionally, the auction will feature artwork by Melvin Warren, Dalhart Windberg, Jose Vives-Atsara, William Slaughter, Randy Peyton, Carl Hoppe, Hazel Massey, Manuel Garza and Tom Lovell, as well as many pieces of Harding Black pottery and Western bronzes.
