NEW YORK – Summer is almost here. Vaccination rates are rising. You need something new to wear to face the world, and to reunite with friends and family and everyone else you missed seeing for more than a year. And about that something new–yes, it can sparkle. It can shine, it can glitter, it can gleam. If it gives you the confidence to venture out, even if it’s only to get coffee at the cafe on the corner, it’ll be worth every penny.

Starting at 4 pm Eastern time on June 9, Jasper52 will conduct a sale of Antique to Modern Fine Jewelry. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers. The auction boasts almost 225 lots in all, with each lot representing a tantalizing possibility and the promise of joy to come.

A particular standout is a vintage men’s 14K yellow gold ring featuring an oval-cut bluish-green sapphire surrounded by diamonds. It features 20 round brilliant-cut diamonds with a total carat weight of .70, as well as 10 baguette-cut diamonds with an equal total carat weight. Made to fit a size 10 finger, the ring is substantial, weighing 23.5 grams, or four-fifths of an ounce. Estimated at $4,500-$5,500, it has a reserve of $3,800.

Another strong statement piece in the auction is a Gay Freres necklace in 18K yellow gold and ebony, decorated with diamonds and emeralds. Founded in 1835, the Gay Freres studio, has created pieces for Van Cleef & Arpels and Hermes, among others. This necklace, which can be opened with a pivoting hinge, dates to 1970 and weighs 73.7 grams, or two and a half ounces. It carries an estimate of $5,000-$6,000 and a reserve of $4,890.

Also of note is an 18K yellow gold bracelet graced with three strands of pearls. A total of 90 natural cultured freshwater pearls comprise the strands, and an additional 15 baroque pearls decorate the bracelet’s clasp. Weighing in at 39.4 grams, or an ounce plus a third, it is estimated at $2,500-$3,000 and has a reserve of $2,000.
