LOS ANGELES – Abell Auction Co. is proud to present an exquisite array of fine art, antiques, 20th-century design and fine jewelry on Sunday, December 5 at 10 am Pacific time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

The sale will feature property from the home of legendary actor Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne Buydens, including a group of 19th-century European Japanned furniture. Leading that group is a George I Japanned and gilt secretary bookcase estimated at $6,000-$8,000.

A collection of fine jewelry, sterling and porcelain from the estate of famed entertainer Jack Benny and his wife Mary Livingstone also will be offered. It includes a Faberge gold Samorodok cigarette case, estimated at $7,000-$10,000, and a pair of JAR aluminum rose petal earrings, estimated at $3,000-$3,500.

Fine art in the upcoming auction is led by Louis Valtat’s circa-1920 canvas Promenade dans le bois de boulogne, estimated at $7,000-$10,000. Other artists represented in the lineup are William Merritt Chase, Edouard Cortes, Andre Derain, Kazuo Nakamura, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Theo Tobiasse, Cornelis Cornelisz Van Haarlem and Edmund Lord Weeks.

Modern and contemporary prints and multiples include Keith Haring’s Untitled #3, estimated at $8,000-$12,000, as well as works signed by Pierre Bonnard, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Albrecht Durer, Sam Francis, Winslow Homer, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Antoni Tapies, Vasa and Andy Warhol.

Jewelry and luxury goods include a platinum and fancy yellow diamond ring, the main diamond weighing 13.89 carats and boasting SI1 clarity. It carries an estimate of $60,000-$80,000. Also of note are a Hermes Birkin handbag; David Webb earrings, rings, bracelets, and a necklace; a vintage Cartier Aquarius charm; and Rolex watches.
