AVON, Conn. – Trinity International Auctions and Appraisals will present its annual Summer Auction on Thursday, July 19, 2012, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide the Internet live bidding for the sale.
Highlights of the auction include a wonderful collection of contemporary prints, including works by Robert Indiana, Sam Francis, Jim Dine, Francis Bacon, Joan Miro and Rene Gruau.
A major highlight of the sale is a work (Lot 47) by Ossip Zadkine (Russian 1890-1967), the head of a woman done in stone, signed underneath and dated 1914. It carries an estimate of $35,000-$55,000.
Another featured artwork is (Lot 103) an oil on canvas by Minas Avetisian (Armenian 1928-1975) titled The Season. It comes from a private collection and is accompanied by a certificate of authentication.
Paintings by David Burliuk (Russian/American, 1882-1962) are always at home in Trinity International’s sale. The July 19 auction includes a beautiful work (Lot 58) titled Sunflowers in a Vase by the Sea. It comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Burliuk committee.
Other Russian works to be offered are by Nikolay Dubovskoy, Vladimir Makovsky and Sergei Gerasimov. These pieces are all fresh to the market.
American works include Herman Fuechsel’s (1833-1915) Homestead at Lake George, Charles Kaelin’s (Lot 117) Rocky Coast, Marion Greenwood’s (Lot 118) The Procession, Louise Nevelson’s (Lot 60) Untitled collage, Agnes Hart’s (Lot 78) Abstract Buildings, and Byron Browne’s (Lot 81) Teapot.
