LINCOLN, UK – Unique Auctions’ New Year’s Day 2019 Auction promises to be an exciting event with an eclectic mix of desirable antiques and collectibles up for grabs. The company’s 9th annual auction, now a recognized event on the UK and international sales calendar, will include a piece of previously unearthed Beatles history in the form of a collection of unseen original images of the Beatles along with the signatures of Paul McCartney, George Harrison and John Lennon on a letter. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
Lot 1129 includes 14 color slide transparencies featuring candid shots taken on location during the filming of the Magical Mystery Tour in Newquay, Cornwall in the autumn of 1967. The images were shot by a fellow guest at the Beatles’ hotel who started chatting to the group in the hotel bar and then accompanied them on a day’s filming. In these never before published images the Beatles are pictured on taking in the sights at the local beaches and engaging with other entourage members of the colorful Magical Mystery tour bus.
The collection will be sold with full copyright and is expected to sell for £1,000–£2,000. This lot also includes other Beatles ephemera and will be of great interest to collectors of Fab Four memorabilia. Another interesting Beatles lot in the auction is 1370a, a first pressing of Please Please Me.
Additional highlights of the auction include a large collection of music boxes, a massive collection of Doulton Lambeth, a 122-gram lot of butterscotch amber beads, along with various fine art paintings including Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803-1902) and prints and clocks from all eras. This huge auction also includes a selection of gold, silver, jewelry, textiles, period furniture, coins, medals and militaria.
The auction takes place on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 9 a.m. London time/4 a.m. Eastern.
