WARREN, Maine – Vintage Accents Auctions will present Home & Country, an online only sale of antiques, folk art and decorative country accessories on Friday, March 18 beginning at 10 am Eastern time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
The auction will include large selections of antique furniture; hooked rugs; folk art decoys and sculptures; stoneware, redware, and ironstone; lighting; hearth accessories; textiles and needlework; paintings; baskets; early glass and country store items.
Leading the lots is a mid-19th-century English ironstone lidded tureen with underplate, by T & R Boote of Sydenham. The handsome piece comes with an ironstone ladle that is not original but completes it nicely. It is estimated at $250-$350.
The T & R Boote example is not the only tureen in the sale. Offered as one lot is a group of three contemporary French glazed pottery lidded tureens, purchased at Le Tuile a Loup in Paris. Respectively, they take the forms of a rabbit, a pig and a partridge, and together carry an estimate of $300-$500.
Among the art offerings is an oil-on-canvas winter colloquial scene of children ice skating on a country pond, rendered in a naive style by Ervin J. Neusch (American, 1892-1993). The undated work is estimated at $500-$700.
Furniture choices include a circa-1920s French-style demilune hamper, boasting Dutch blue paint and estimated at $100-$200, as well as a 19th-century wooden work table, which could be Scandinavian or perhaps Irish, estimated at $350-$450.
A particular standout among the furnishings is an early 19th-century New England Sheraton four-drawer chest made from solid mahogany. It is described as being in very good condition and is estimated at $600-$800.
Rounding out the highlights is a group of 13 antique glass Mason jars, estimated at $300-$400, and a pair of 19th-century Spanish Colonial tin sunburst-form candle sconces with embossed fluted and geometric decoration, estimated at $300-$500.
