MONTREAL, Canada — A fascinating and eclectic mix of items from the past provide additional color to Kavanagh’s Antiques, Decorative and Fine Arts Auction on Saturday, December 16. The catalog is now open for bidding at LiveAuctioneers.

A group of three World War II, Korea War and Vietnam-era aviator flight jackets starts off the review. Two are lettered for the U.S. Navy, while a third seems to refer to the Army Air Force’s 9th Bomber Group, which served in Latin America and the Caribbean until being relocated to the South Pacific in 1944 towards the end of the war. One Vietnam-era example shows assignment to Gerald M. Felton (1948-2007) as plane captain of Attack Squadron 64. All three jackets carry a CA$100-CA$15,000 ($70-$11,035) estimate.

Once a powerhouse of American silver manufacturing, Gorham operated from 1831 to 1986, when a corporate takeover by the Textron conglomerate shuttered the plant. This set of four sterling silver scalloped-edge chargers are 11in in diameter, have a combined weight of 2,505 grams and an estimate of CA$500-CA$15,000 ($360-$11,035).

A wonderful overmantle mirror features everything you might want in a vintage Canadian antique: a miniature beaver figural centerpiece, maple leaf adornments and an intricate rope border. Its estimate is CA$100-CA$15,000 ($70-$11,035).

Little is known about Canadian artist Jeanette Helen Twist beyond a birthdate of 1910, a home in Toronto, Ontario, and her legacy of pastel portraits of Inuits that are often identified as being from the mid-1960s. This pastel of an Inuit woman’s face surrounded by her winter parka is estimated at CA$50-CA$15,000 ($30-$11,035).
