NEW YORK – The current “Instruments of C.F. Martin” guitar exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art isn’t the only place you’ll find some of these rare instruments. Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques in Long Island City will present their mid-summer auction on Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m., with the spotlight on select vintage Martin and Gibson guitars from an acclaimed Long Island-based collector.

Guitar aficionados are sure to bid high on the Martin 1926 00-28 Natural acoustic guitar, serial number 25243, having Brazilian rosewood back and sides, refinished spruce top, a factory replaced bridge and a custom-made case (estimated value $10,000-15,000). Capo Auction will also feature a 1965 Gibson Country Western Southern Jumbo Guitar, serial number 344575, with original frets and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, including a soft case (estimated value $3,000-3,500); a Fender Jazz Bass Sunburst electric guitar, serial number 315632, which includes its original hard shell case (estimated value $3,000-5,000); and a Gibson Style A mandolin, circa 1910, serial number 23926, also with its original hard shell case (estimated value $1,000-1,500).
In keeping with the musical theme, Capo Auction is also offering a stunning Steinway piano Model A having a 6-foot-long ebonized case (estimated value $12,000-15,000).
